    Code 8024402C

Recently, whenever I try to update, I get the "Code 8024402C" error. I've tried possible solution to this damn problem, and it still wont work. I really don't know what it is. I have no viruses, everything is up to date and svchost.exe is allowed by both my firewall and antivirus. Can anyone help me out? This is really getting frustrating.

More info on this error: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=900936

Hello, and welcome to the Seven Forums!

These network related errors are a massive pain. I much prefer to have one of the corruptions, because at least those are hard and solid solutions. Run the batch file at the bottom of this post: Network Posting Tips - Vista Forums

It applies to 7 as well as Vista.

Have a look here: Windows Update Error code 0x8024402c « TechSquad

Just in case this is caused by a corruption rather than a network error, as codes are never exact, run this tool: Description of the System Update Readiness Tool for Windows Vista, for Windows Server 2008, for Windows 7, and for Windows Server 2008 R2 When it has finished installing the update, it is done!

Then naviagate to C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\ and open CheckSUR.log. Copy and paste the entire log into a new reply, prerferably in code tag if you can find them, but otherwise don't worry!

    Thanks, and good luck!

I ran the System Update Readiness Tool and this is what I got:

    =================================
    Checking System Update Readiness.
    Binary Version 6.1.7600.20822
    Package Version 10.0
    2010-12-07 12:41

    Checking Windows Servicing Packages

    Checking Package Manifests and Catalogs

    Checking Package Watchlist

    Checking Component Watchlist

    Checking Packages

    Checking Component Store

    Summary:
    Seconds executed: 479
    No errors detected
Customer Experience report successfully uploaded. Thank you for participating. For more information, see the Microsoft Customer Experience Improvement Program on the Microsoft web site.

Apparently, I got no errors. Which is strange, because the error still persists. Now, I'm going to try the .bat file, I'll tell you how it goes afterwards. Thanks for the help so far.

I ran the .bat file, my PC restarted, and it still doesn't work. I don't know what is causing this. I'm going to try running a virus and malware scan again just to see if I actually have a virus.

Well, that puts a lot of those corruptions out of the way. I much prefer them. I can provide you with a hard and fast solution. Now we are looking at a network error.

What Firewall are you using, and what router are you using? Can other computers in your house download updates? Can other user accounts on your computer download updates?

    Thanks!

I scanned my computer with my antivirus and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and nothing was found.

Regarding your post, I'm using the Windows Firewall and the Linksys WRT100 router. And actually, no, my other computer that is running Windows XP can't download updates either. But the updates on that computer is only updates for Office 2007, which is strange because I don't even have Office 2007.

Ok, so I tried disabling the router's firewall to check if that was the problem, but it isn't. This is hopeless.

Turn the Firewall back on now. You need the protection and it is not the cause. Could you please create a new account for me, and see whether that works or not, just as a test. Thanks!

P.S. These network releated ones are a mighty pain to fix, as you can see.
