auto-update settings (a couple questions)
I just got the latest update.
it auto-downloaded, auto-installed, then triggered a 10-minute countdown to auto-restart (and offered me a 'postpone' option)
my chief concern is this:
- is there any way I can set the default for future auto-downloads and auto-installs to always postpone the restart so that it has to be done manually? (I often leave the computer active when I'm not around, and thus it could be quite the nuisance if Windows chooses to close things I'm running so that it can restart unnecessarily promptly).
I'm also curious about these related concerns:
- is there any way I can be alerted to when background programs are hogging my bandwidth? (on 56k this is a significant issue)
- only one of the last 50 odd updates in the download failed to install
Application Compatibility Update
Should I seek to resolve this manually, or will a future update detect the ones that are available and not installed, download, and try again to install this one properly?
apologies if this belongs in some other 'help' forum, I figured here would be suitable because most of this is to do with customizing away from default behaviors.
