Windows 7: Signature Edition License Questions

Hi all,

I have installed Windows 7 Ultimate Signature Edition. I understand that the license is for 1 install only.

However, i've been working for about a week now to fix my machine which is full of trojan's in the svchost process and others and it seems to be getting worse.

The simple option for me, is to re-format my C drive and re-install Windows from scratch.

However, i'm having a little trouble finding on Microsoft's UK site where to request a new license for my installation.

Also, as i'm just installing on the same machine, would this license request be free of chanrge?

Windows retail license can be reused when reinstalling, no need to call Microsoft. Signature Edition is a normal retail licence of Windows 7 Ultimate, so you are good to go. In some rare cases when reinstalling retail Windows the activation does not work at first. In this case you get the option to activate by phone. Following instructions given on screen you can then activate Windows.

I have the Signature Edition, too, and already reinstalled it a couple of times.

And, in the horrid case in which it does not activate, the MS support line was very friendly in reactivating my copy of Windows when I had to format/reinstall.
