One certain update not staying installed.

I have downloaded the same update to security essentials like 5 times. Every time I check my updates it is there. I click to download it. It downloads just fine. Then when I restart my computer and check for updates again. It says it is there to be updated again. Why?

    Here is the update.

Definition Update for Microsoft Security Essentials - KB972696 (Definition 1.95.2506.0)

    Download size: 1.5 MB

    Update type: Optional

Install this update to revise the definition files that are used to detect viruses, spyware, and other potentially unwanted software. Once you have installed this item, it cannot be removed.

Set update to notify not install

When the update arrives, just right click on it and set to hide
    Your problems should be over.

Try manually updating from the MSE interface. If successful, the update notification should go away.

I fixed. I had Microsoft do it for me. They went to a update on there site. What it did was it reset and fixed my windows update settings. he said something probably got messed up in my update settings. Because it was installed. It was just seeing it as not installed. SO he ran an installer that reset and fixed all my windows update settings back to normal. But thanks all for everything. If you want ask me. I will put a link to the page where people can get the update reset if they need it ever.
