Windows 7 product key will not work...

I reinstalled my copy of Windows 7 because I had gained a virus that would not let me connect to the internet. When I reinstalled my Windows 7, my product key on the sticker that came with my copy of Windows 7, would not activate. I have tried slui, exe 4, and when I press enter, this is no drop down menu to select my country. Please help...

Might have to format/wipe the drive first....

Agree you should have wiped the HD if you had a virus, as the infected code has not been overwritten otherwise: SSD / HDD : Optimize for Windows Reinstallation

During install leave the Product Key box blank and uncheck the box. After install activate at Computer>Properties activation link. You may need to do the phone activation to parse the number on COA sticker as it is a batch key.

Make sure you are installing the correct version for your Product Key.

What kind of windows 7 is this? Is this a retail copy you bought from a store or win7 that came preinstalled and preactivated with your branded OEM computer?

I had a custom gaming machine built at my local computer store and they installed it first.

All your data is suspect now....no telling where the virus duplicated it's self to....If it will boot you might be able to clean the system....

Exactly, so this is likely a retail or system builder copy. Click on the start orb, click Control panel, click System, scroll down and see what it says under "windows activation" at the bottom. Post a snipshot or just type what it says.

And did you reinstall windows using the same disk?

This is what I got, Imageshack - 67806978.jpg

And yes, I installed with the same disk.

    Ok, please do 2 things.

    1) Click on "Change product key" that you see at the bottom of the system properties page, then enter the key on the win7 DVD. Let us know what happens.

    2) After you have entered the key, download and run mgadiag.

Click Continue, then click on the Copy tab at the bottom, paste into notepad and save as a .txt file. Upload that file with your next post.
