Solved Hibernate Feature of Toshiba Satellite M500-D433.

I've installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit into the mentioned Laptop. Before I activated the Windows 7, the Hibernate feature is working fine. After I've keying in the License Key, the Hibernate Feature is keep going to Sleeping Mode.

Anyone could help me to solve my problem?

Check your advanced power settings. (accessed by typing "Power Settings" in the Start Menu search bar and choosing the first option > Edit your desired power plan settings > Choose Advanced Power Settings)

When you click Start and click the arrow to the right of "Shut Down" (or whatever the default option is) do you have an option: Hibernate?

Yes, there is a hibernate option.

Once I've selected it, it's will got to slepping mode...

For youe info, I've change the switch off button to hibernate option, it's also will got to sleeping mode...

Hibernate Feature not Working

I've installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit intomy Toshiba Laptop. Before I activated the Windows 7, the Hibernate feature is working fine. After I've keying in the License Key, the Hibernate Feature is keep going to Sleeping Mode.

The exact output when I type this at an elevated command prompt.

powercfg -a

The result as follow:-

The following sleep states are available on this system: Standby < S3 > Hibernate Hybrid Sleep
The following sleep states are not available on this system:
Standby < S1 >
The system firmware does not support this standby state.
Standby < S2 >
The system firmware does not support this standby state

Anyone know how to disable the Hybrid Sleep?

Hello Kengloong,

I'm sorry, but I'm confused. I thought that you wanted to enable hibernate.

If you wanted to disable hibernate as in your post above, then this will show you how to as well.

@kengloong: Toshiba Satellite M500-D433 have specific hardware level problem with Hibernate function in Windows 7. Take that, you are fortunate if you can make it hibernate ever in life.

Its very difficult to say whether it is Toshiba's problem or Windows 7's bug (problem with some hardware). I can say, there is no solution till now as far I know.

People recommend to update BIOS, Graphics card driver (obviously try those) but nothing works.

Given that there is no changes to the operating system when activation occurs (only when the trial expires and features disable), I can't come to the conclusion that the activation is directly linked to your problem. I may in fact be that some other change took place (completely outside activation).

If you want hibernate mode, when do you want the machine to enter hibernation?

I want to have Hibernate feature. My laptop now got this feature, but every times when i hit the hibernate, the laptop will go to sleep mode...

Sounds like he does karl...Are there not two styles of Hibernation, of which one is Hybrid?

The OP may have them confused?

To keng, check:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power, and make sure HibernateEnabled has a value of 1 .

At an elevated command prompt, type following and hit enter:
POWERCFG -H ON

type following and hit enter:
EXIT

shutdown your computer.

Power up you computer.

Go to an elevated command prompt,
type following commands and hit enter after each
C:
cd \
attrib

do you see a hiberfil.sys ?

Let's assume you do.

Now
WIN | type POWER OPTIONS | ENTER

In the left-hand side, click on Choose what closing the lid does

For When I close the lid
select Hibenate from the list of choices for both On battery and Plugged In
Click on the Save Changes button

Power down your computer.
Power up your computer.

Now close the lid.
WAIT for Win 7 to finish writing to the disk.

Open the lid

Do you see a "Resuming Windows" display on the screen?

It is VERY important that regardless of what you have previously done that you:
Carry out the steps listed AND in the order listed.

Under none of them.

Under Power itself.

click on Power

If Hybrid Sleep is enabled, the option to hibernate disappears. Disable Hybrid Sleep, and see if that helps any.

WIN refers to the key with flag on it.

the | is used as a divider between steps you perform.

ENTER refers to the ENTER key on your keyboard.
