In that case, you are entitled to receive support from MS. Just call them and they'll do the needful for you.

First of all x58c is not all that obsolete- it comes preloaded with vista from what I have read. Secondly driver support is a separate issue, it has nothing to do with windows activation. For that matter, MS invested a fortune in making sure win7 has enormous built-in driver support- a lot of your devices will function without the need for 3rd party drivers.

Basically whoever you called is an id*#@t. I suspect that your genuine boxed windows from a specialized store is a clever counterfeit. Go back to that store and demand a refund- if they are evasive, report them.

    How to Tell

Ok, lets try another thing. Download this tool.

    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012

Run it, then click on the "Copy" button, paste into notepad, save as .txt file, upload the file with your next post.

+1 ... This sounds like the problem indeed ... Counterfeits are a big problem, and in some cases are almost impossible to detect ... until problems with the OS appear ... I would follow Bills excellent advice ... return the OS.. Good Luck..
