Have weekly Windows updates slowed down recently?
Maybe in anticipation of the release of SP1?

I haven't had any updates in the last 3 or 4 weeks - in fact last one was 13/01/2011.

Windows Updates are usually monthly not weekly, on the second Tuesday of the month. There may be other times if there's the need for an out of sequence update needed.
If you have Microsoft Security Essentials installed they come daily, whenever a new def update is available.

I uninstalled MSE and by the end of the day optional Updates was pushing through a full MSE installer. Is this a mass Update for those missing an AV, or only something new for subscribers who uninstall?

I received the usual monthly updates on the 11-1-2011 then every day since then it's just been the update defs for MSE. The next monthly updates aren't due until next Tuesday, haven't seen any notice yet of what there will be or how many.

Why weekly backup?
Having Win7 for a month now, I notice the prompt to "backup" my system every week. I began the process when I got the first prompt a couple of weeks ago and did the backup accordingly, but I'm wondering how urgent it is to do this every week? I use my PC for browsing and for my home budget (MS...

Win backups only daily or weekly?
Short of third party software, is there any way - or has anyone come up with a hack - to get Windows to backup somewhere between daily and weekly? There are workarounds, but it'd be nice if Windows could do a backup every few days.
