    Windows Activation

I recently had a hard drive error and I had to reinstall windows from scratch.
When I tried to activate it it just keeps saying "This activation code is for upgrades, not for full installation" or something like that. I think it might be because in the upper left corner it says "Upgrade designed for Windows Vista*". Any suggestions?

You can clean install with an upgrade version, using the workaround described in this tut.

Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version

Remember this process is legal only if you own a previous qualifying version of Windows.
