Security Essentials Version: 2.0.657.0
Antimalware Client Version: 3.0.8107.0
Engine Version: 1.1.6502.0

I now only get updates as an optional extra on the updates page anyone getting this?

I'm pretty sure it's always been like that. MSE will update periodically and grab those updates

Hi Steve
It seems to have been since the MSE ver 2 update they began been labelled as optional rather than important.Dont think is was anything to do with SP1.

Yeah it's labelled as optional so people don't get the alerts all the time of their system needing an update. They did this because they changed how they rolled out the updates to going through the windows updater instead of through MSE itself.
