W7, sp1 causes usb mass storage failure

    To all:
Have a dell inspiron 580, W7, 64bit desktop... got Jan 2011. All was fine until sp1 update... afterwhich none of my usb mass storage drivers worked... tried all kinds of things, uninstalling drivers, updating, rolling back, chipset and bios updates etc.. nothing works... only current option is to rollback sp1... any ideas on how to get my sp1 to work? many thanks, yodel99

Hi... well re-ran sp1, and again, no mass storage usb (usb keyboard and usb mouse are ok)... ran the 7601usbfix.exe and it said all three files (usbehci.sys, usbport.sys, winusb.sys) were uptodate..... note that my orig issue was the mass storage usb driver not happy... it was not an invalid signature issue.. it was something about 'wrong platform'... and when I tried to update the driver, it said it was up to date... deleting and trying to get w7 to reinstall didnt work either... i'm still stuck with sp1... anything else to try? many thanks, yodel99
