| | Downloaded uninstalled updates Where does Windows 7 store the downloaded but not installed updates? I inadvertently downloaded an update which was for the latest Microsoft Security Essentials. I hadn't previously installed any of this suite, and I don't need any of the programs at this time. If I can locate the update file, can I just delete it without consequences? I may want to install parts of it sometime in the future. Thank you! |

| | Bring up updates In left panel view hidden updates. Those are the ones that are downloaded but not installed. If you want to install, just unhide |

| | The folder C:\windows\software distribution\download acts as a temporary placeholder for downloaded updates. Just navigate to that folder and go through its contents, delete what you want. |
