    UPDATES stole my desktop

So, yesterday, the wife was on the puter and had to reboot for updates that MS released (IE9 RC and Silverlight 4.0.60129.0). She logged in and continued her day.

This morning, I boot up and log in only to find that my desktop had gone away. Instead of a "welcome" message while logging in, it says "Preparing your desktop" and gives me a brand new desktop, like I had just installed this user.

A simple restore to yesterday morning, pre-updates, solved the probs. I have my desktop back. And, I've reinstalled the updates, one at a time. No more issues. :)

Anyone else run into a prob like this?

Don't install beta software unless you don't mind it breaking your machine . Good to hear you got your box back, though.
