    Re-build PC then re-install. Lic Key ?

    Hi

I am about to rebuild my pc. I will use the same drives, case and ram but the psu, cpu and motherboard will be new.

Can I re-install my win 7 using my Lic Key or will I need to buy a new one?

    Any suggestions welcome.

    Hello there.

If you have a Retail key, no problem at all. you'll be able to activate it without major issues.

If you have an OEM key, you'll have to activate by phone, call Microsoft and explain the fact that you change the Motherboard and you like to use your OEM key in the new one (you'll probably have to tell them that the motherboard died, because i don't know if they'll let you activate the key if you just "change the mobo because you wanted to") :)

    Yes, you can.

The same Retail key can be used to activate both 32 and 64-bit editions of the Windows version that you bought.

Now that you've told me that is a retail copy. no issues whatsoever.

Retail keys can be activated 132938120938109283012931 million times if you want! the only thing is that it has to be activated one PC at a time
