Interesting. I just checked the event log. Yesterday there was an access violation on Volume Shadow Copy during the update of Paint .Net. This morning at about the time of the install of SP1 there was another error saying it could not locate the device and recreated it. So it looks like the problem was pre-existing. I think I'll keep an eye on this, not the first time I've had issues following update of Paint .Net.

I spoke too soon. Woke up this morning to a fast (if not faster) bootup than before SP1. I always get pissy at service pack installs :).

    Windows 7 Pro 64bit SP1 adds 90 + Seconds !`

Wow, I'm impressed some of you only have 8 seconds added to your boot time.

I have a whopping 90 + seconds added to my boot time after the SP1 install.

I've rebooted 6 times in the hope that I might just get lucky, but no it seems to be stuck like this !

My boot time is now 50 sec which is 1 sec less than before. So things come back to order.

I have installed SP1 on 3 systems now - 2 x64 and 1 x86. Installations went smoothly. On the other 2 systems I never measured the boot time before so I would not know whether it is slower or faster. But the restore points disappeared in all cases.

consider that, after doing a huge update to most of the components of your windows installation, your system drive is going to be horribly fragmented. this may well add 8 seconds to your boot time.

    try defragging.

Would not make any difference to an SSD.

My C drive was at 3% fragmentation before and after, but used 3 gigs less space after.
