| Windows 7: Post-SP1 slowdowns |

Post-SP1 slowdowns For whatever reason, after dozens of restarts, SP1 takes about 8 more seconds to bootup. Every time. After the boot logo goes away, it usually takes a second or two to go to my login screen. It stays at a black screen for about 5-8 seconds. No HDD activity light or anything. This did NOT happen pre-SP1.
Did anyone else notice any sort of slowdowns? This is very disappointing. | My System Specs |

My boot times increased by 8 seconds also with SP 1---from 70 to 78 seconds.

My restart time went from 51 sec to 99 sec - not a good deal. If that does not get better, I will uninstall the bugger.
But I also noticed that the net runtime optimization service is keeping my CPU busy - 15% of the i7. I wonder what that is doing. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP, Dell, Gateway, Toshiba - 4 laptops and 2 desktops OS Vista, Windows7, Mint Mate, Zorin, Windows 8 CPU from 1.6GHz Duo to i7 Monitor(s) Displays 2x HP w2207 Keyboard with trackball - no mices Mouse Trackball mice Hard Drives 5x HDD, 7x SSD, 12x Externals Internet Speed DSL 6000 |

I know that 8 seconds doesn't sound like much, but I'm just so darn used to it with my SSD. Very annoying and disappointing to see it take longer. Hopefully they'll get it sorted out soon... | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom build OS Windows 8 Professional x64 CPU Intel Core i7-2600K @ 4.0GHz Motherboard MSI Z68A-GD80 Memory 8GB (2x4GB) G.SKILL Ripjaws X DDR3 1600 Graphics Card SAPPHIRE 7950 Monitor(s) Displays Acer P244W Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Microsoft Wireless Comfort Keyboard 5000 Mouse GX-Gaming Maurus PSU Rosewill Xtreme 750W Case Enermax Hoplite ST (White) Cooling Cooler Master Hyper 212+ Hard Drives 120GB Kingston 3K HyperX SSD

After this runtime optimization was done, I rebooted again and it is down to 55sec - still 4 sec slower than before, but at least not too bad. Will measure it again tomorrow. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP, Dell, Gateway, Toshiba - 4 laptops and 2 desktops OS Vista, Windows7, Mint Mate, Zorin, Windows 8 CPU from 1.6GHz Duo to i7 Monitor(s) Displays 2x HP w2207 Keyboard with trackball - no mices Mouse Trackball mice Hard Drives 5x HDD, 7x SSD, 12x Externals Internet Speed DSL 6000 |

Mine are about the same but they weren't fantastic anyway. I also noticed the .net optimization service taking 25% of the cpu. It lasted for about 15 minutes and is now back to normal.
One interesting observation. It deleted all the restore points prior to SP1. They obviously don't want you to uninstall it using system recovery. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Hewlett-Packard/G62-107SA Notebook OS Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit 7601 Multiprocessor Free Service Pack 1 CPU Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU M 330 @ 2.13GHz Motherboard Hewlett-Packard 1425 Memory 8 GB DDR3 Graphics Card Intel(R) HD Graphics Sound Card Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays Builtin Screen Resolution 1366 x 768 x 32 bits (4294967296 colors) @ 60 Hz Mouse Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 Hard Drives 250 GB SATA Hard Disk Drive 7200 rpm
