    Windows 7 SP1 for x64 - Watermark! WARNING

    Hi All,

I have just installed the Windows 7 Service Pack 1 for x64 based systems.

Let me start by saying that the installation took over an hour, so if you intend on installing SP 1 be prepared to sit around for a while, or start the process and then go and watch a movie!

Over all I am not at all impressed by the installation, and I am now seeing a watermark at the bottom right hand corner of my screen that says:

    Test Mode
    Windows 7
    Build 7601

I figure that it is too early to work out why this has popped up. But I will recommend that you don't install the update!!!

    Thanks

    Davo

You've probably installed the SP1 RC instead of RTM. Uninstall it and get sp1 via windows updates.

    Hi,

I definitely got the "right" version; unless running Windows Update from the taskbar is malfunctioning and pointing to the wrong update server!

    Cheers

OK, lets check. Click on the start button, type winver, hit Enter. Post a snipshot of that window.

Installation of the SP1 depends on your system and the option at which you installed it. If you did it through Windows Update, or a standalone installation, etc. The standalone installation I did of it a while ago only took maybe 10-15 minutes. It's not going to take an hour for everyone.

SP1 has worked out just fine for me without any problems.

    Test Mode -

Have you used any method to disable driver signing enforcement for any unsigned drivers?
Usually methods to do that (like DSEO) make you put your system into Test Mode with the watermarks.

SP1 RTM version definitely shouldn't have any watermarks in a normal situation.

Yeah, Airbot, my watermark, from the Beta and then the RC, went away once I installed the RTM SP1. Something else is at play here provided the SP1 installed by the OP is, indeed, the RTM.
