Windows 7 SP1 for x64 - Watermark! WARNING Hi All,
I have just installed the Windows 7 Service Pack 1 for x64 based systems.
Let me start by saying that the installation took over an hour, so if you intend on installing SP 1 be prepared to sit around for a while, or start the process and then go and watch a movie!
Over all I am not at all impressed by the installation, and I am now seeing a watermark at the bottom right hand corner of my screen that says:
Test Mode
Windows 7
Build 7601
I figure that it is too early to work out why this has popped up. But I will recommend that you don't install the update!!!
Thanks

You've probably installed the SP1 RC instead of RTM. Uninstall it and get sp1 via windows updates. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...uninstall.html

Hi,
I definitely got the "right" version; unless running Windows Update from the taskbar is malfunctioning and pointing to the wrong update server!
Cheers

OK, lets check. Click on the start button, type winver, hit Enter. Post a snipshot of that window. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Too many to describe... OS Windows 7 x64 pro/ Windows 7 x86 Pro/ XP SP3 x86 |

Installation of the SP1 depends on your system and the option at which you installed it. If you did it through Windows Update, or a standalone installation, etc. The standalone installation I did of it a while ago only took maybe 10-15 minutes. It's not going to take an hour for everyone.
SP1 has worked out just fine for me without any problems.
Test Mode -
Have you used any method to disable driver signing enforcement for any unsigned drivers?
Usually methods to do that (like DSEO) make you put your system into Test Mode with the watermarks.
SP1 RTM version definitely shouldn't have any watermarks in a normal situation. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Airbot 2.0 OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Core i7 920 (D0) @ 4Ghz, *26c idle *65c full load on air Motherboard Asus P6X58D Premium - Sata 6Gb/s - USB 3.0 Memory 12GB DDR3 Corsair Dominator -CMD12GX3M6A1600C8 at 1600MHz Graphics Card EVGA GeForce GTX 480 -Aftermaket Accelero Xtreme Plus cooler Sound Card ASUS Xonar D2X Monitor(s) Displays 1 LG 24" Flatron W2453V-PF 1 Samsung 24" P2450H both 2ms RT Screen Resolution 1920x1080@60hz Keyboard Logitech Wireless MK700 Mouse Logitech Wireless MK700 PSU Corsair HX1000W Case Cooler Master HAF 932 Cooling Case Fans *3 230mm, *1 140mm/CPU - *Tuniq Tower 120 Extreme Hard Drives 1 OCZ Vertex2 180GB SSD

Yeah, Airbot, my watermark, from the Beta and then the RC, went away once I installed the RTM SP1. Something else is at play here provided the SP1 installed by the OP is, indeed, the RTM. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Toshiba L355D OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Core2 Duo Motherboard Intel Memory 4 GB Graphics Card GM965 on-board Sound Card RealTek on-board Monitor(s) Displays 19"+17"(laptop) Screen Resolution 1440x900 (x 2) PSU N/A Case N/A Cooling N/A Hard Drives 500GB Ext. 200GB Internal |
