Give up on installing Win 7 Sp1 ?

Tried to install KB2345886 and get error 80004005,Try to install KB976932(SP1) and get error 800f0826. Tried to install a couple dozen times. Did everything posted in these forums on how to install SP1 and even uninstalled my AV,Malware program and even my graphic card drivers. Tried troubleshooting in WU,Tried the reset fix etc all to NO avail. My system is running great and I really don't want to do a clean install. I have NEVER had any problems with updates only the two that are mentioned here. I'm at wits end. Any help would be appreciated.

Just to check that all of the bases were covered:

1) Do you get any errors with System File Checker?

2) How did you uninstall the video card drivers?

There are more things to check, but this is a good start.

SFC showed no problems,Video drivers from Programs/Features then used Driver Cleaner that is a great app and have used it a long time.

I think there are two options

right click and hide update

or for ms to release every new hotfix separately

or how about a tool that worked for a change ie click here to diagnose why sp1 wont install - with a solution that makes sense or which part/driver has the actual conflict

I am with you on this one "Jakedog". Did everything you did and more but no joy. First time ever I have problems with windows updates. Besides the two errors you reported I also got the "Error_Invalid_Data 0x8007000d".

Just looking at the amount of threads posted here with same and/or similar problems, should have been enough reasons to hold on trying to update.

Guess I'll wait until MS comes out with a fix or I'll have to skip SP1 until I change my hard drive and do a fresh install.

Driver Cleaner has issues with Win 7 that could well be the culprit, though I would expect you to have found errors with SFC.

I would try to do a System Restore to a point before you uninstalled the video drivers.

If that fails, my opinion would be to go ahead and do a Repair Install. There are a million things you could try, but this is the most straightforward way to get this fixed. If you have questions about using the Tutorial ask them before doing anything. After might be too late.

Hi, jakedog.

Windows Update error 800f0826 is displayed when an update for Windows has failed to install and is preventing you from installing additional updates. You need to solve the problem for KB2345886 before attempting SP1 again.

Try getting KB2345886 directly from the download site: Download details: Update for Windows 7 (KB2345886)

Check that you don't have any hidden updates or are missing other critical updates.

I thought about doing a repair.....but I don't know,I'm undecided. I do not use system restore I use Erunt. Also the KB2345886 link is for 32 bit. I need it for 64 bit. The only two updates that I have are the ones mentioned in this post.

Sorry, jakedog. I had found the update via a search and hadn't looked at anything but the file name. Here is the 64-bit version: Download details: Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2345886), Windows6.1-KB2345886-x64.msu
