    Can't download from Microsoft

Well like a ton of people here at the forum, I am having great difficulty getting SP1 installed. That aside, after applying the Update Readiness Hotfix KB947821, I am now trying to download the SP1 update directly from MS. This is just a straight forward file download!! Gets about 240mb into 903 total and just sits there. Tried 3 times, same result. Forget about all the errors people are getting trying to install, isn't a file download just a file download or is this whole SP1 problem related to this simple task?

    Many thanks

I really didn't hear any of my friends to complain about downloading and installing SP1. I got the update on Feb 23rd , it was about 50 Mb and took 45 min (20 to download and 25 more to install) . Btw, what is Update Readiness Hotfix KB947821. I checked and didn't found anything like that in my update history?

Hi BISVAL. Glad to hear that you had no problem downloading and installing SP1.
If you look in forum topic UPdates & Activation, you will find a ton of folks who are struggling with SP1. That Update Readiness Tool is available on Microsofts site for people who are having problems installing SP1.
I finally got the update downloaded from MS on fourth try. Now attempting to apply it. OOPS. Finished again with FAIL ERROR 80004005. Thats it folks. I give up.

Clean all temps and defrag, then try the trouble shooter Troubleshoot problems installing a service pack for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2

Thanks Jacee. Tried all of the above but to no avail. As I mentioned earlier, I think I am just going to put this issue aside for now. Too frustrating. Maybe I will try a Repair Install when I get time.
    Cheers
