Win7 SP1 Problems

After installing Windows 6 x64 SP1, my downloading capability was brought to it's knees. Video required buffering and froze, files indicated they would take 2 days to complete, web pages wouldn't complete loading etc.........

Anyone else other there experiencing this? Does anyone know of a hot fix?

Hello there, have you tried resetting your connection? (i highly doubt it's a SP1 issue)

Follow the next steps:

1) go to start, type "cmd" in the search bar (without quotes), right click it and "run as administrator".
2) type this: "ipconfig /release" (w/o quotes) and press enter.
3) now type: "ipconfig /flushdns" (w/o quotes) and press enter.
4) now: "ipconfig /renew" and press enter.

If that doesn't solve it, do the following

1) type on the CMD window: "netsh winsock reset catalog" and press enter.
2) after done, type: "netsh int ip reset reset.log" and press enter.

Reboot and check if everything works!

And of course, report back... please

Punkster...... I tired both your suggestions.

The first didn't work any better any better than what was already going on.

The second made the situation far worse.

This would indicate to me that it in fact does have something to do with SP1 as the system did not react this way prior to the update.

Right now I can't work........ So I'm going to do a system restore to before the installation of SP1.

Let me know if you have any other suggestions..........

Why not just uninstall SP1 if you really think that's the culprit?

It not that simple.......... I did a system restore to the point prior to point where I installed SP1, everything worked but he networking bit which still persists.

I'm open to suggestions other than reinstalling Windows.

I was having major internet delay issues ever since I went to SP1. Your advice above seems to have solved my problem.

Thanks

What firewall program are you using? The ipconfig commands above I thought helped, ended up not working. What I did find out was that my firewall PC Tools Plus 7 was the problem. When I turned it off, all my internet speed problems went away. I am going to uninstall and re-install it to see if it helps, if not wait for them to release an upgrade that is SP1 compatible.

The re-install did not work.
I removed PC Tools plus 7 firewall and turned on Windows Firewall. My internet speeds are now back to normal.
I will have to wait until a patch for SP1 comes out from PC Tools.
