Windows Vista Microsoft Updates WON'T Install

    Hey guys,

So, I am having a problem with getting the updates installed on a friends Vista laptop.

I went in to services and stop and restarted the BITS service and rebooted and tried it with no success.

I keep getting error "80072efd", which says to add these 3 things to the firewall

    http://*.update.microsoft.com

    https://*.update.microsoft.com

    http://download.windowsupdate.com

Number one, I don't see a place to add a URL to an exception list, its just programs..
Number two, those are supposed to be already added in (according to MS)
Number three, when I just removed the firewall, I still couldn't do the updates.

    Any suggestions?

Maybe try resetting the Update components?

If those haven't worked for you, you could check this and see if it's what you are looking for:

You may encounter temporary connection-related errors when you use Windows Update or Microsoft Update to install updates
