Windows SP1 - now explorer doesnt function properly I installed SP1 last evening with no issues what so ever, but now today when I am using my computer I am not able to double click on anything in windows explorer.
When I try and open a drive or a folder I get the message there is no default program associated with this type of file, please go to control panel bla bla bla...
The wierd thing is that I am able to right click and open or explore, but I guess I will have to try and uninstall and reinstall SP1. Anybody else having issues like this? | My System Specs |

I did try that, but the only time I am getting this message is when double clicking to open a folder. I am not actually trying to run a program and getting this message, so there is something crossed up. I have been a bit busy today to uninstall SP1, but might get to it tonight. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Polywell workstation OS Win 7 Ultimate x64, Win 7 Enterprise CPU Intel Motherboard Intel Memory 8GB Graphics Card Nvidia FX 3700 Monitor(s) Displays 22" Cooling 6 fans |

For best results do it with a System Restore, everything will go back the way it was. An uninstall may not guarantee that. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell XPS 420 OS Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, clean install, upgrade disc CPU Intel Core2 processsor Q8200(2.33Ghz 1333FSB) Quad Core Tech Motherboard Dell Memory 6 gb Graphics Card ATI Radeon 256MB HD3650 Sound Card Intergrated 7.1 Channel Audio Monitor(s) Displays Dell SP2009W 20" Keyboard Dell USB Keyboard Mouse Dell Premium Optical USB Cooling Fan Hard Drives 640 GB Serial ATA Hard drive Internet Speed DSL 2.85 |

Rich,
Just wanted to let you know, I uninstalled SP1 using restore, and it went back to normal fine. No more issues with SP1 on this machine. I also tried the upgrade at home on ultimate 64 bit and went through with no issues, maybe it was just something that fluked it on this laptop. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Polywell workstation OS Win 7 Ultimate x64, Win 7 Enterprise CPU Intel Motherboard Intel Memory 8GB Graphics Card Nvidia FX 3700 Monitor(s) Displays 22" Cooling 6 fans |

Just so you know. Its always good to install the SPs, but it this situation it is not essential. This SP contains all of the updates, which you should have installed, already and some small changes. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell XPS 420 OS Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, clean install, upgrade disc CPU Intel Core2 processsor Q8200(2.33Ghz 1333FSB) Quad Core Tech Motherboard Dell Memory 6 gb Graphics Card ATI Radeon 256MB HD3650 Sound Card Intergrated 7.1 Channel Audio Monitor(s) Displays Dell SP2009W 20" Keyboard Dell USB Keyboard Mouse Dell Premium Optical USB Cooling Fan Hard Drives 640 GB Serial ATA Hard drive Internet Speed DSL 2.85 |

yea no problem, thanks for the heads up. I normally try and keep my system up to date, as it usually runs better that way in most instances.
I might come back to it at some point when time allows, but its not a high priority at this point. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Polywell workstation OS Win 7 Ultimate x64, Win 7 Enterprise CPU Intel Motherboard Intel Memory 8GB Graphics Card Nvidia FX 3700 Monitor(s) Displays 22" Cooling 6 fans Windows SP1 - now explorer doesnt function properly problems?
