    Windows 7, Service Pack 1


    Hi all. I just installed Service Pack 1 and it has corrupted my 32 bit files in that I am getting an Error Message: This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. If one is alredy installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel. This has popped up even when I try to go to Windows Explorer or C:\ or its subcategories.
    Has anyone had a similar problem? Is there a fix? TIA, Ed Weidman

    Hello Ed, and welcome to Seven Forums.

    See if downloading and merging the lnk (LNK) and exe options in the tutorial below may be able to help after a restart. They will restore the default asscociations for these file extensions.

I read that Win7 has a service pack 1 now, doe that apply for 64 bit versions? Have any of you installed it? Are there any improvements or does it just slow the system down? thanks

Im updating my GF laptop, i got all updates done except for Windows 7 Service Pack 1 every time i try to install it i get this error Code 80070079 Windows encountered a problem with a unknown error. Ive tried google and i cant find out whats causing it and ive also tried searching the forums...
When do you think the first service pack will become available for Windows 7? I mean finalized, offered by MS, not a beta. I say sometime early 2nd quarter 2010.
