    Same OS, Different Drive

Can I re-install win7 on a new drive in the same computer and use the same product key?

Yes (but) is it a upgrade W7 disc or retail disc? More info is needed.

It is from the upgrade family pack of 3. I upgraded this particular HP system from Vista. Seems like it should be OK.

If you install Upgrade version to a cleaned or empty HD, it requires doing a quick registry edit after install in order to activate: Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version

I was able to use Acronis True Image to clone the OS to a new drive with no problems at all. Boots and works perfect.
