After SP1 upgrade it takes longer time to boot?

After my update to SP1 now it takes about 25 seconds more for the system to boot. Everything seems the same until Windows starts logging in to my account. It takes much longer to load to the desktop now than it took before.
I'm using the admin account if it matters.
Can you tell me how to provide enough information to you, so you can help me :) Maybe it's a driver problem?

Have you checked your C: drive fragmentation?

The problem got fixed after following this guide for speeding up the boot process How to speed up boot process under Windows Vista or Windows 7 - MSFN Forum
Now it's better than ever before. Dropped from 86 seconds for reboot to 53.
I'm not sure if the reason was fragmentation on C: , but it's OK now.
Thank you sbrads for giving your opinion on the problem.

The long restart seems to be a normal aftereffect that is only temporary in nature.

I just installed SP1 on a 3rd computer yesterday. What I have noticed with these 3 installs is that:

    • After the first restart by the SP1 installer there is a lot of disk activity and processor usage for a good 15 minutes after arriving on the desktop. I have just left the system alone until all activity goes back to near normal.
    • The first restart after this is long. Average was 15 to 30 seconds longer than normal. All the desktop icons are regenerated. The more stuff on the desktop the more affected the system was. The system with the most programs starting up automatically was the longest (naturally).
    • The next restart was shorter, but near normal. It was more noticeable on the laptop with the cluttered desktop, much less with the minimalist desktop.
    • On all computers, by the 4th restart everything was back to normal on all machines.
    • After defragging the drive the startup was actually shorter (by a few seconds) on two machines. But not my machine - it has no real change either way.

Hope that helps someone out there!

Thank you TVeblen. That is useful. My room mate installed SP1 also and he suffered by the same symptoms. So he uninstalled it.
