Windows Update Errors - 800B0100, 80070002, 80070BC9 Hey guys,
I have been trying to install these windows updates
KB2388210
KB976098
KB976932 (SP1)
however these errors appear when trying to install them 800B0100, 80070002, 80070BC9. I have tried to do the things windows recommended to me.
I have Windows Ultimate x64 and have already tried doing the System Readiness Tool and have attached the log.
I have already tried to install these manually from the Microsoft website but they failed.
Thanks for all your help. | My System Specs |

Hello!
You have unfixed errors in your CheckSUR.log. These need fixing. Attemping solutions or resets will not help you. You need a fix custom written for your PC. I shall do this for you, but I cannot do it this second. Please be patient!
Thanks again!

Richard Hi,
Thanks for the reply. So what exactly are you going to do (or me).
And when will this custom fix be ready. No rush though
Is there any more information you need from my system?
Thanks

Alex Hello Alex!
Thank you so much for your patience! It is greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, there has been a slight setback. Quote: So what exactly are you going to do (or me). You shall find out soon It wouldn't have been too hard. Quote: And when will this custom fix be ready. No rush though Again, thanks for your patience. I have tried to do it now...but I have struggled to find a replacement for on your your corrupt files, a rare one. Quote: Is there any more information you need from my system? I may also need to take another file off your computer to aid me in finding a replacement.
However, give me one day, and if I still have not sourced it, I shall grab that file I am usually pretty good The problem is that file is quite large, and a bit unwieldy.
I am a very busy student, but I shall be as quick as possible. I am uploading all of those other files before I lose them, and so that I can add to them at my place of work. There is no need to do anything with them yet. Just ignore them, but know that I am making every effort.
Thanks again, Alex!

Hello again, Alex!
Merlin's back! lol.
Sorry, I couldn't trace it. I need to take a very small portion of your registry to find out. This part is just a small part which you have probably never seen before, and doesn't contain any identifiable data (as far as I know). The only thing it will tell me is what updates are installed on your machine, hence which language packs you have installed. But I am not interested, and won't waste time finding out!
Right, please do the following: Elevated Command Prompt
Now paste in (must use Right Click > Paste, Ctrl-V does NOT work in Command Prompt) the following, one at a time, pressing enter after each one. dir C:\Windows\Servicing\Packages /s > %UserProfile%\Desktop\log1.txt dir C:\Windows\WinSxS /s > %UserProfile%\Desktop\log2.txt
Download the Freeware RegBak from here: Acelogix Software - Download products
Run it, and make a backup.
Navigate to C:\Windows\RegBak\{Date}\ and copy the COMPONENTS file to your Desktop.
Highlight all three files (log1.txt, log2.txt, COMPONENTS) and right click on one of them > Send to > Compressed (zipped) archive.
Now upload this zip file to RAPID SHARE, or any other similar file sharing website.
Once you have done this, copy the link, and send me that link so that I can download it. Please make sure to set the permissions to public, so that I can access it!
Thanks again!
Richard
P.S. I am sorry that it came to this. It won't be long before I can avoid this, for I am developing a whole range of tools for both my end and your end, which already automate much of the process. Already I do very little. All extraction of updates, much of the repetition in log files, the analysis of that registry hive is already automated at my end. But all of these tools are still in beta - a safe beta, they only ever have read permissions to the registry, and not write, but the word beta makes some think "Danger!". lol. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell XPS 420 OS Vista Home Premium x86 SP2 CPU Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 2.50GHz Motherboard Stock Dell 0TP406 Memory 4 gb (DDR2 800) 400MHz Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 3870 (512 MBytes) Monitor(s) Displays 1 x Dell 2007FP and 1 x (old) Sonic flat screen Screen Resolution 1600 x 1200 and 1280 x 1204 Keyboard Dell Bluetooth Mouse Advent Optical ADE-WG01 (colour change light up) Case Dell XPS 420 Cooling Stock Fan Hard Drives 1 x 640Gb (SATA 300) Western Digital: WDC WD6400AAKS-75A7B0 1 x 1Tb (SATA 600) Western Digital: Caviar Black, SATA 6GB/S, 64Mb cache, 8ms Western Digital: WDC WD1002FAEX-00Z3A0 ATA Device Internet Speed Varies from 10kb/s to 170kb/s. Hey
I did the registry backup but there wasn't a components file in the backup folder.
I did however get the log files. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Compaq CQ60-430sa OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU AMD Turion Dual Core RM-72 2.10GHz Memory 4 Gb RAM Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 8200M G Hard Drives 240 Gb Hard Disk Drive |

Hello again, Alex!
Really, really excellent work! Sorry that RegBak didn't work. Well done on ERUNT. All files received intact, and required information extracted. Manifest traced, and replacement found! WARNING! This fix was created specifically for this user! If you are not this user, do not follow these instructions! @alexh42: Ignore the above
Download the attached .zip file. Inside it, will be two folders, Packages and Manifests.
Create these folders if they do not already exist: C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages\ and C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Manifests
Extract Packs.zip onto your Desktop. Please place the contents of my Desktop\Packages in C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages\ and my Desktop\Manifests in C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Manifests.
DO NOT place the .zip file in that folder, or the folders themselves. Make sure that a lot of files are in each of those Checksur folder.
Re-run the System Update Readiness Tool, and get me another copy of C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log.
Also, please retest Windows Updates (with fingers slightly crossed, no matter how much we both know that that won't help! lol.)
Thanks!
