    Windows Update Service Will not start


    So I noticed my MS Security Essentials stopped updating and then I noticed my updates werent even running.

    When I try to start the Automatic Update service I get

    Windows could not start the Windows Update service on the local machine
    Error 193: 0xc1

    Ive been scouring the net nad running things left and right to try to fix it
    I used the MS Fixit and that errors out as well.

    I run sfc /scannow and it says there were some files that could not be repaired.

    I tried doing an Update Install and that error'd out as well.

    Im pretty much at a loss and really would rather not reinstall the whole OS.
    Im sure its something small and stupid I am not doing but would
    really like some new ideas.

    Download Security Check by screen317 from here http://screen317.spywareinfoforum.org/SecurityCheck.exe or here http://screen317.changelog.fr/SecurityCheck.exe
    Save it to your Desktop.
    Double click SecurityCheck.exe and follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
    A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt.
    Please post the contents of that document.

    Next, download WVCheck and save it to the desktop.
    • Right click on WVCheck.exe and select Run as Administrator and follow the prompts.
    • The scan may take some time depending on the Hard-Drive size.
    • Please post the contents of the notepad file WVCheck_1436_dd-mm-yyyy that can be located on the desktop.
      Once the program is done, copy the contents of the notepad file as a reply.


    Copy and paste both logs back in your next reply.

    I gave up and just did a clean install- obviously it was infected with a virus or something at some point so thought it probably would be best.

    I do have windows security essentials running- well was running but it wouldnt update because the windows automaitc updates service wouldnt start
    I wouldnt even know how to setup a proxy server honestly
    I use utorrent for music (mostly live dj sets). im a horrible person lol
