Windows Update Message Text Garbled

HI, since installing SP1 for Windows 7, when I go to Windows Update (Manually) the text for both important and optional updates is garbled. When I click on what I believe is "mportant" a new page appears, which is then and remains totally blank. This includes the button at the lower right. (Which I believe is the cancel button)

I have tried Windows "fix it" - which reports that it is fixed - but it is not!

I have set my lappy to automatically download windows updates to try to cover this problem - but there are some that I don't really want. So, by not being able to read or use the update screen...I can't choose.

Windows Security Updates are working just fine.

But, I am stuck....Microsoft suggested some fixes - but they did not work. I have only an OEM installation of Win 7 (without disc, of course) and I really don't want to have to do a fresh install of Win 7 using a back up, just to fix this. Help!! (Specs for my system are logged)
