Why only a partial auto update?

On 14th April 24 updates updated automatically as they should but there are still five important updates waiting to be installed. Service Pack 1 for Win 7 and IE9 I do not want installed but that leaves three others. They are KB2467175, KB2467173 and KB2467174. These are for Visual Studio 2005, 2010 and 2008.

Can anyone tell me please why these did not auto update and whether I need them?

    I have Win7 Pro 64 Bit.

I used Google and looked up them three updates and looks like they are all for service pack 1 so if you are not going to install service pack 1 I don't think these updates do you any good.

Nothing to do with 7 SP1, they are SP1 updates for the various versions of Visual Studio. Only reason I can see for them being optional instead of automatic is that not everyone will have all or even any of those versions of VS installed (most of which came some program that requires it).

And yes you should install them if for no other reason than they are security updates for those 3 versions of VS.

Many thanks Stormy 13. I have searched on my computer and I can not see any reference to Visual Studio anywhere. So what happens if I try to install these three updates and Visual Studio isn't on the computer?

If Visual Studio is installed, it would be in Program And Features. If not installed, there would be no point in trying to install the update.

Thank you Seekermeister, I hadn't thought of that! They are there so I will install updates. Thanks. Mystery why they didn't auto install.
