Error Code 80070643 Powerpoint (KB2464594) update failes

    Hello,

I received updates today and one was for a Power Point 2007 (KB2464594) security issue. I've rolled my system back (RollBackRx) and still can't get this update to install. I've read what I've found and none of it has been helpful. I understand this is a general error but have no idea how to get it to load. All other updates install with no problem.

I have Office 2010 (but did update from 2007) months ago. Using Win 7(64) Home Premium.

Any simple help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hello,

I'm facing the same problem. I run the Spanish version of Windows 64 Home Basic, and my system shows an available update for PowerPoint 2007. I run Office 2010 (but also did upgrade from 2007).

In the end, the system shows error 80070643 ,saying "Windows Update found an unkown error" (translated from the original message in Spanish). There's also a link for more info. This link takes me to a help page, where error number 80070643 seems to be related to a problem error on the .NET framework installed in the local computer.

I don't know if I should re-install .NET Framework or should I ignore this update as I don't run PowerPoint 2007. However I don't know how to remove the update, for the system not to show it as an available update.

    Thank you!

    Hello Jacee,

That thread solved the problem. I used the manual procedure. I had some Office 2007 leftovers.

The cleanup tool didn't do anything.

I'm sure this is a dumb question, but what goes in this location <name of product to remove>
And how should it be worded?

    cleanup_tool.exe /q:a /c:"cleanup.exe /p <name of product to remove> /u"
