    Error 659 with KB2467173


    Tried to update Win 7 64 bit Microsoft Security update for Visual C++. It keeps failing. I ran System readiness tool to no avail. Haven't had ANY problems with updates till this one came along.

    Go here and try a manual download.
    Download details: Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 RTM Redistributable MFC Security Update

    You want the second one in the list for your Win7 64bit. "'vcredist_x64.exe-- 9.8MB"

    See if that will install it properly.
    Let us know good or bad and will go from there.

    It failed. In the Box it states that it is forbidden by system policy. I tried to run it as admin but to no avail.


    DUH!!!!!. I went to add/remove programs to uninstall it and reinstall,to mu SURPRISE,I had both 64 and 32 bit versions installed of Visual C++! I uninstalled the 32 bit version and installed the update with no problem. How I had BOTH versions on my system I do not know. I really am embarrassed.

    I'm not sure what/why "System Policy" is popping up.
