    System Updates keep failing

    I shut down my computer every night. For the past I would say 2 weeks, in the morning it tries to install updates, but it never works. I always get a "System Updates Failed" and then it just takes me to the desktop and I'm good to go.

    Nothing seems to be wrong with my computer, but I'm just wondering why it's doing this.

    COMPUTER INFO:

    * HP Pavilion p6726f-b
    * AMD Phenom II 830 Quad-Core Processor
    * Windows 7 Home Premium x64

    Please help.

    * We need the KB number to know what update you refer to.

    * Have you checked in Event Viewer ?
    Start - Event Viewer - Windows Logs - System & Application.
    Check for any red error messages to do with this problem.

    *What is listed { as regards your problem} in Windows Update - View Update History?

    *Clean out App data / local / temp.
    Start - Run - type in %temp% - ok - organize - select all - organize - delete { note you may be asked to skip some - that is ok}

    * Re your update settings -
    I suggest you change them to notify you but let you choose to download.
    Do a few at a time only. {Tedious, but allows you to monitor for any problems.}

    * Always make sure you have a current system restore point prior to downloading anything.

    Going through the Update History worked. I should have thought about that before asking for help, actually. Thanks. :)
