Update to Internet Explorer 9 does not work

I have now for 2 times done the update from version 8 to version 9 of Internet Explorer for 64bit systems as it is qualified as a important update, but the update again failed. When I start the Internet Explorer after the update I only get white screens instead of the content of the websites.

The only way for now is to fall back to Internet Explorer 8, but then Windows update always reminds me to update towards Internet Explorer 9. This is annoying.

Is there a way repair the Internet explorer?

I had a problem when this update arrived on my laptop. What happened was, I first did the update successfully but then in windows update it would still show up as an important update that needs to be installed and then when I would try to install it, it would get an error code and fail (tried like 20 times) but then after a few weeks of leaving it alone, I just restarted my computer and it disappeared from the windows update.

I agree with JMH ... IE9 is not an absolute necessity. However, if you want to try it out just to see if you like it, you might have better luck installing it from the Microsoft download site.

How do I install or uninstall Internet Explorer 9?

Before trying the download I'd suggest checking your control panel > programs and features > view installed updates. Check to make sure you don't already have IE9 listed because it could be a partial or failed or corrupt installation. If IE9 is listed follow the steps in the Microsoft article above for uninstalling.

Finally, make a new restore point, or even better a system image, just in case something gets borked when you try to install IE9.

    System Restore Point - Create

Backup Complete Computer - Create an Image Backup

    Thank's for your help.

So I will forget about the update as it is not necessary and I am happy with Internet Explorer 8.

While IE9 is not an absolute necessity I would imagine you want it installed, which is why you posted your question?

First off make sure you have all the "Important" updates installed, including any IE8 updates.

Go here - Download Internet Explorer 9 - Microsoft Windows and get the "Windows 7 64-bit" file since you're running a 64-bit OS.

Make sure you check this out prior to install as marsmimar suggested - How do I install or uninstall Internet Explorer 9?

Try the install and see what happens from there?

    Let us know.
