win7 "view windows update history" blank/missing

My "view windows update" page is blank w/ the exception of one update run yesterday.

Originally I ran the Update Fix-it Tool and that is what wiped my history. I ran the Tool again and but it didn't recover my history.

My "Installed Updates" page is intact showing everything that successfully installed.

Any help?

They are still on the PC.
Mine did the same thing back in January.

My bad.
Click the yellow circled link in left picture and the right window will open listing all the updates.
Clicking "View Update history" in left column towards top of left picture gives just the recent ones after reset or Fix it Tool.

My first update in this list is dated Sept. 1, 2010 when I installed Win 7.

Thanks for the reply.

I guess I'll leave well enough alone. It's usually when I start playing around trying to fix a small problem that I am able to make it a big problem.

On additional question. In my "view windows update" window I had 14 or 15 updates which failed (and hence the reason I started looking at this in the first place). I manually downloaded a few and tried to install them by hand and got an error message something to the effect that "this update is not for your computer".

Will Windows Update download incompatible updates to my computer and show them as failed or are those updates really something I should have installed and the error message is wrong? Just curious.

Well you can see the updates are listed just in a different window now.

The ones that you manually tried but are not applicable to your system you can hide when windows trys to tell you to download and install them.
Here is a tutorial with pictures to show how to do this.
Windows Update - Hide or Restore Hidden Updates

Also it may be helpful to have Win Update let you know when updates are available but not to Auto install.
That will give you a chance to install one or two at a time and if you have a problem installing you know which one it is.
When you do several at a time if a problem occurs which one is the problem?
So here is a tutorial if you wish to do that.
