Can't copy and paste after installing SP1?

Hi I have Windows 7 Home Premium x64 which came with my laptop and this morning I decided to update Windows 7 to service pack 1 (manually using the microsoft site) which completed successfully. However, I could no longer copy and paste anything, I would right click and click copy, then right click and click paste, but nothing would happen at all.

After a google search, I found that disabling aero usually works, and so I tried it and it did work. However, is there no way that I can keep my copy and paste functionality while also keeping aero? As I don't like not having aero as it looks crap and old.

Thanks
