Windows Updates Failed

I noticed that since 4/28 all my windows updates have been failing. I have my updates set to auto to download and install the updates.

I manually downloaded and installed each one that failed and all is fine now but my question is why are they failing when they are set to auto?

Also is there a updates site where I can go and see what is available and select them to manually download and install? This time I had to google each one that failed to find the download page for Microsoft.

Thanks
