Post May 11 Update Issues - Massive HD Corruption According to Chkdsk
Today, I turned on my laptop for the first time since the May 11 update. It completed running the update and then it froze. It was completely unresponsive, the mouse would not move, nothing was happening.
I hit ctl+alt+del to bring up the Task Manager, but that failed and a message came up telling me to hit escape and do a hard boot of the laptop.
I did that, and after sitting on the initial windows screen (the black one) a message came up to run chkdsk. That was over an hour ago. It is now at about 10% and is showing perhaps now a hundred corrupted files.
Should I allow chkdsk to keep running or is it possibly doing more damage than good? Also, has anyone ever seen anything like this before? I haven't.
I'd appreciate a timely response only due to the possible destruction of my hard drive that seems to be going on right now.
Thanks in advance.
