It's legal, it's legal, it's legalThe grace period is supposed to be used by people who already have a license and need the time to subscribe to an Internet connection or handle other logistics. Using Windows 7 RTM without a key, even during the grace period is technically illegal (though, admittedly, nobody is going to go after you for that). Also, many people seem to misunderstand the rearm and misstate that it's "legal". No, it's not. The rearm is intended for OEMs to reset to a clean slate for the purpose of preinstalls and imaging. Use by the end user is not "legal" in the technical sense (this is on top of the "illegal" use of the grace period).
It's true that MSFT probably doesn't care and they certainly are not going to go after people for this, but that doesn't make it legal. Call it "something you can almost certainly get away with" if you want, but don't call it "legal".
