Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1
Is it necessary to install the following updates?

All three updates are listed as "important" updates, but none of them is checked off by default.

KB2492386 Compatibility software update that improves the compatibility experience on windows 7
KB2506928 fixes an issue in which a link in an .html file that you open in Outlook does not work. This issue occurs on a Windows 7-based or Windows Server 2008 R2-based computer that has Internet Explorer 9 installed
KB2533552 Your computer may freeze or restart to a black screen that has a "0xc0000034" error message after you install Service Pack 1 on Windows 7
Now install accordingly if u face any of these issues with yout system. Orelse just ignore :-)

Windows7 Pro 64bit SP-1; Windows XP Pro 32bit

How they are checked is determined by how you have Win Update set.

If it were on "AUTO" it would just download and install them.

KB2492386- Download details: Update for Windows 7 (KB2492386)
Install this update to resolve a set of known application compatibility issues with Windows.

KB2506928- Download details: Update for Windows 7 (KB2506928)
Install this update to resolve issues in Windows.

KB2533552- An update that prevents a "0xC0000034" error message when you try to install Windows 7 SP1 or Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 is available

I have them installed but you will have to decide for your system.
