Administrator settings

For a while, I wasn't able to install Explorer 9 that Windows Updates suggest me. It was downloading, was closing some programs before installation but gave me error 800B0100 at installation. I was able to speak with a Microsoft support tech and he made me create another user with administrator previleges and I was finally able to install Explorer 9 through this new user.

He said that I would probably have to transfert my documents, start menu, shortcuts to this new user because my first account was kind of corrupted. So I'm pretty sure that there are many settings and previleges that can be sets in an administrator account and I would like to compare my two accounts to see which settings was blocking this update to install. Do you have any clue or at least know how to get access to administrator's settings.

Off course I could also do what the tech suggest me but since my pc has a single user and that it was built from scratch, I would prefer to correct the missing bit instead of going through the back door.

0x800B0100 is usually a very easy error to fix (and fix from the very root cause, not start creating new accounts and whatnot) Of course, there are never any guarantees, but so far, I have an excellent success rate on this error code. Let's try the proper fix :)

First, please boot into your original account. Then please download and install the System Update Readiness Tool: Description of the System Update Readiness Tool for Windows Vista, for Windows Server 2008, for Windows 7, and for Windows Server 2008 R2

This tool will tell me exactly which files are corrupt, and causing this error code. Then I shall supply you with replacements for these files, and a method :)

After the tool has installed, please upload your C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log.

Well, no errors showing in that log. I need to take all of the old logs.

Please copy the C:\Windows\Logs\CBS folder to your Desktop, right click on it > Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder, and upload the new file which is created on your Desktop here.

OK this doesn't seems to go anywhere so I'll go back to my original question. How can I restore my admin account to it's original state? Any clue?
