Is it showing in your update history as being installed? It can be hidden to prevent it showing in your updates list if that is your want.

    KB2538242 replaces KB973923. Please see

Microsoft Security Bulletin MS11-025 - Important
Vulnerability in Microsoft Foundation Class (MFC) Library Could Allow Remote Code Execution (2500212)

    Check the Affected Software table.
This is from the Revisions on the bottom of the Bulletin -
•V2.0 (April 21, 2011): Rereleased bulletin to reoffer the updates to address a detection issue. There were no changes to the security update files in this bulletin. Customers who have already successfully updated their systems do not need to reinstall this update.
•V2.1 (April 27, 2011): Corrected the bulletin replacement information and clarified the update FAQ entry, "Will I be offered this update even if I have no suitable attack vectors on my system?"
•V3.0 (June 14, 2011): Reoffered the update for Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Service Pack 1, Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack 1, Microsoft Visual Studio 2010, Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package, and Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package. Customers who have previously installed this update should install the new packages on the affected systems.
This update has been a PITA since it was released in April. From what I've been reading in the MS Answers Update forum, it will be replaced again in 2 weeks.

Some posters with x64 systems stated that they downloaded the 2 packages included in the update, saved and then manually installed them.
That resolved the installation issue for some posters, but not all of them.
One needs to install both the x86 (vcredist_x86.EXE) and x64 (vcredist_x64.EXE) packages.

Go here and download Hot Fix and run it. It will fix the problem
