Is there a way to prevent this

Last night I was installing my antivirus program..and it needed to reboot...ugh..(*&&^%^$$% windows took over
and started installing updates..computer locked right up..how frustrating..I hate this behavior..
Is there a way to prevent this except to turn off auto updates

    Hello Vagablonde,

Yeah, the only real way to prevent this is to change the Windows Update settings to either Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them, or Never check for updates. You would just have to remember to manually install them every so often.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn
