Hi all, I downloaded W7 SP1, it says download OK, I installed it, all OK, restarted and it starts windows and then the screen goes black, I left it all morning to see if it corrects itself, but it didn't and I had switch off by the switch, when I restarted it I got windows repair and all it done was loaded it by system restore..
I had tried it for several times and it happens every time.....
    Please help....

    Hi All

Have decided to call it a day for now with SP1 install. Here's a summary of recent events.

Thanks to Richard (niemiro) I got past an issue with a corrupted Update package and that (eventually) allowed me to install all pending Updates apart from SP1. The SP1 install logs indicated that there is a missing element in KB2506223 (security update MS11-034). The Installed Updates list do not show KB2506223. When I tried to install it standalone it wouldn't let me. I understand that KB2506223 was superseded by KB2525694 (MS11-041) which is already installed on the PC - so that is presumably why I cannot retrospectively complete the installation of KB2506223.

Having read about the grief that a number of people experienced with SP1 itself, I have decided to leave it for now. At least I'm very happy that yesterday's "Patch Tuesday" updates have all installed successfuly - a good result!

    Cheers - Nick
