Read my post above. Now, did this machine come or didnt come with win7 preinstalled and preactivated. If yes, use the sticker key. If not and you paid for the OS, contact the seller and demand a refund. If neither of the above, buy a genuine key.

You dont need to reinstall windows. Just buy a new key from a reputed seller and input it.

Yes it was preinstalled and preactivated. I doubt the (korean) dealer will "understand" my problem. He genuinely does not speak a lot of English and will suddenly understand a lot less if I start demand compensation no matter how deserved it is.

I can't be bothered with all the hassle I will get a new cheap as possible key and put it in. Actually that's been the main problem -trying to figure out if reinstalling is necessary or not, once I have the product key. Thanks for your help; do you know of a seller who gives a betetr deal than others for an online-obtainble key?

You have win7 ultimate which is the most expensive edition of the lot. Take a look here.

    Newegg.com - windows 7

    Amazon.com: windows 7

Do you have a genuine, previous windows version- XP or vista? In that case you can buy the much cheaper upgrade versions.
