Hi, I have just signed up here as I'm having loads of trouble trying to install a windows update. The update is Windows 7 service pack 1 (KB976932) and I get the error code 8024200D. I have tried the System Update Readiness tool and it didnt help. Help please. :)
That error means that the system thinks the updated files the installer is attempting to update already exist at a newer version. As with all SP1 installation errors, please stop the Windows Update service, make another attempt to install SP1 (and reproduce the error), and then post your cbs.log file (%windir%\logs\cbs\) showing the failure. You can re-start the WU service at that point.

WIN | type SERVICES.MSC | ENTER |
scroll down the list and highlight Windows Update |
at the top of the column to the left of the list of services, click on STOP
WIN is the key with the wavy Microsoft flag on top.

Reboot your computer and run sfc /scannow once again, then try to perform the update.
You got a clean bill of health it appears from the sfc /scannow.
The next time you run sfc /scannow tell me do you see a msg to the effect that no integrity violations were found?

Please copy the C:\Windows\Logs\CBS folder to your Desktop, right click on it > Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder, and upload the new file which is created on your Desktop here.

Hi, sorry I havent replied been busy. Yes I do get the mesage "no integrity violations were found" after the scan.
Hi Niemiro, it will not let me do that it says "File not found or no read permission".
Any1 have any ideas as to why this keeps failing ;/
