No Windows update since July 13 ?

I have not been prompted for any Microsoft Windows updates since July 13.

Have there been no updates since then or is there something wrong with my system?

Microsoft only release updates every month or so (on Tuesday), unless otherwise required. Known as Patch Tuesday.

Only updates I see are four (4) windows defender updates (7/15, 7/20, 7/22, and 7/26) so if you are not using windows defender then no, there have been no updates since then.

If you are in doubt....run windows update from control panel manually and find out for yourself.

Thank you for your responses. I was used to seeing an update almost every Tuesday/Wednesday so that is why I sort of panicked.

Anyway, I just downloaded this program called Secunia PSI which is supposed to help me with any updates I may have missed. Hope it helps.

    Hi there.

Not wishing to be facetious so please don't take this the wrong way -- but shouldn't we be GLAD that their AREN'T updates coming out every day (other than the odd security patch).

Surely we should be really pleased that their aren't many updates -- this to me says that the OS has now rreached an essentially Mature and STABLE state and Ms can concentrate on Windows 8 or whatever.

How would you feel if you had to keep taking your car back to the garage for "Weekly updates" / changes to its configuration.

A Linux server I'm running at home hasn't had any updates for over 2 years now other than the odd piece of hardware added to it.

    Cheers

Secunia is an excellent choice....I use it and week over week I am able to keep my score at 100% using Secunia PSI to monitor all installed software (there are a few programs that it doesn't cover I'm sure but none that I have run across so far). A nice admin tool to assist in the continuing saga that is Windows and related software. Can't recommend it highly enough.

The only time MS releases an OOB (out of band) cycle update is when something is found that usually requires immediate patch to close a hole or problem which is very bad. That being said, most of those usually come in the last 10 days of any given month. The standard patch Tuesday is the 2nd Tuesday of each month, and patches are usually available after 10:00AM Pacific time on that day (as a general rule, timewise).
