Volume Gone From Trey and is Greyed out

I recently updated and after the update I received a message telling me that logonui.exe had a problem and that I was missing hid.dll. I downloaded a copy of hid.dll and stuck it in the system32 folder and the problem went away. However, my sound icon is gone from the system trey!? I went to customize and it was greyed out. This means the keyboard shortcut for sound won't work, which as you can imagine is insanely annoying. Any ideas?

    Use this tutorial :
System Icons - Enable or Disable

Scroll to Option Two, # 9 > click the Download button > follow the instructions #11 to #15.
