    Unable to install SP1

I have given up on trying to install Windows 7 Service pack 1. Tried everything but cannot install it.
However this might be of interest.
I have two hard drives on my computer. The second HD was installed about 3 weeks ago and is a OCZ solid state 60GB drive. This is now my main drive.
The other standard drive has service pack 1 installed on it and was done automatically when SP1 came out. No problems.
The problem only exists on the solid state HD and the error code is 80070057.
Anyone else having this problem with solid state drives?
Anyone have any idea how to resolve the problem?
    Regards
    FBW

Solutions from other sites suggest that a "non-standard-windows" service or software running during update / sp1 install / could be a problem. (e.g. antivirus)

Another thread suggest that installed additional language packs could also be a problem. After deinstalling all but default english the sp1 update/install was OK.

I've posted this link in the hope it helps: Error Code: 0x80070057 (Can't install KB876932) - Microsoft Answers

Also, you may find that downloading and installing the standalone SP1 package is preferable to downloading it via Windows Updates.

    Thank you for your replies............
I spent many hours yesterday on the phone/computer with Microsoft trying to resolve the problem. Microsoft used remote access to try and install SP1 and unfortunately they did not have any success.
In the end I agreed (reluctantly) to wipe the HD and start again with a fresh install of W7 and then trying to install SP1. Although the SP1 installation process went further than previously it still would not install. Microsoft told me they had not seen this problem before and the case has been passed to another section of the Microsoft technical team and they will be phoning me after 12:00.
