Win 7 64b Enterprise Activastion using KMS server, how to do that?

Hi folks,

I have about 10 computers that i have installed on the the above version of W7, and i have a server elsewhere on the network in which i want these computers go there for activation.

I have a guide from microsoft on how to that, but my problem is that when i need to put the pruduct key in order to tell the windows installation that it is a KMS activation it tell me that the key is wrong.
This key is publicly published in tue microsoft documentation here:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../ff793421.aspx

After investigating the case i have notice that the computer is't even try to communicate with the server over the network although that i gave it the right ip address of the server.

In short, the problem is somewhere between the key that microsoft published and the version of my windows (which i think it is the right version), and not between the KMS server and the KMS client.

Thanks.
Hanan.

KMS Servers require AT LEAST 25 clients before they can be used - for lower numbers you have to use MAK Licensing.

Noel is correct, with KMS you need at least 25 machines to activate before you can use it.

Where did you get this copy of Windows from anyway? You cannot purchase it, but rather have to have a volume license agreement with Microsoft to use it.

Hi there
My experience with Windows Enterprise for lower volumes -- especially the technet ones is do the following

1) Install the product (you've done)

2) Now on the system settings (advanced) click the CHANGE PRODUCT KEY.

3) Enter the key you got from technet.

Voila system will be active -- you just get a message saying "....Please wait while the product key is being verified" -- and after a few seconds you get a message back (or should do) saying Product key has been verified and you'll see the Genuine windows logo.

For Other client licensing and CALS use whatever you usually do - but this method works to get W7 Enterprise up and running on stand alone workstations.

The product DOES have multiple activation so you only need one key.

Cheers

My knowledge of TechNet Keys is a few years out of date - but NONE of them were KMS Keys (the few that got issued in that format were withdrawn quickly and re-issued as MAK)

[and it still doesn't remove the requirement for 25 client licenses for a KMS server]

I haven't the one who setup the server, i have just want to know how to activate a client through that server.
The basic idea is that the client automaticly try to activate itself throuh the internet, and in my organizaion such a beast isn't being.

At the end i figured out that i probably have had a problem with my win 7 installation so i ahve reinstall the windows, then throuh the command line using the right command (which i am don't remember off the too on my head) i configured it to active itself through the ip address if my KMS server. And walla it has worked since the till today and byond.

Thanks.

To be able to activate through a KMS server, you need details of the server such as the FQDN - contact the System Admin for the server.
